JenniferSyme
Not
much is known about Jennifer Maria Syme, except that she was a girlfriend of
actor Keanu Reeves. A lot of what is known about her centered around tragic
circumstances: First, the 1999 stillbirth of the baby she expected with Reeves,
and second, her untimely death in 2001 at age 28. Around the time she met Reeves, Jennifer
worked as an assistant to director David Lynch, and was even featured briefly
in his film "Lost Highway". She and Reeves started dating casually
in the late 1990s, and were expecting a baby girl in 1999. Sadly, Eva Archer
Syme Reeves was stillborn around Christmas 1999. The couple separated permanently
not long after the baby's death, but were said to have remained good friends.
Ms Syme had been suffering from depression and was receiving medication since.
At the time of her death, Jennifer was working as a record company executive
in Los Angeles. She died April 2 2001 at 6:20am, after her Jeep Cherokee crashed
into a row of parked cars in Los Angeles. She had just come from Marilyn Manson's mansion, where
she was apparently getting high. Marilyn Manson, who was featured in "Lost Highway"
and also agreed to make cameo appearances in the MD TV series,
was claimed
responsible for her death when having been negligent in "instructing the
woman to operate a motor vehicle in her incapacitated condition". Jennifer
Syme was buried at Westwood Memorial Park next to her daughter. In tribute to his former assistant David Lynch dedicates
Mulholland Dr. (2001) to her in the closing credits of the film.
It is an eerie
coincidence that Jennifer Syme was killed crashing into a parked car. It
happened in April 2001 so all of MD had been filmed prior to the accident. An
accident is a terrible thing. There was enough time to dedicate the film to
her though. Lynch must have been fond of her. - (richdubbya)

Cameo
appearance in 'Lost Highway':
Scott Coffey & Jennifer Syme as couple

Something I found
really odd after doing some digging was that the woman Keanu left to be with
Jennifer, Amanda de Cadenet, was a good friend of Rose McGowan, Manson's then fiancée.
They were such good friends in fact that during one interview conducted with
Rose around that period, Amanda was swimming in the pool while Rose was giving
the interview in the yard. Apparently Manson was a long-time friend of
Jennifer's. Syme was the one who introduced Manson to Lynch, which led to
Manson receiving a small part in Lost Highway. I find it a bit peculiar that
Manson and his fiancée were each friends with one of the two prominent women
in Keanu's love life at the time. And if you look at pictures of Amanda from
the early 90's, she looks amazingly like Naomi Watts in the film (she even had
the same haircut). Also, there is a striking resemblance between Laura Harring
and Syme. I've been comparing photos and it's eerie. I'm wondering with all
the subtle clues the movie gives us, if somehow Lynch is trying to tell the
viewer to dig deeper. It just seems very odd that Amanda was immediately back
in Keanu's life the second Jennifer was out of the way, and that Jennifer died
after leaving the home of a friend whose girlfriend was close to Amanda, so
conceivably could have had something against Syme for dating the guy her
friend wanted. Maybe I'm just over-analysing it, but there are some really
weird connections here. - (Magda07)
