I forget the details now but there was that very Havenhurst location I screen-shoted.
Verónica Osorio's character lit up a few MD synapsis too. She's a kinda Rita-like, Hispanic starlet, reminded me of Rita Hayworth, wandering around in Red. Then there's the ott cowboy character. I don't know, there's nothing much concrete but it just felt like MD a few times. Not uncanny and menacing but dream like and in/out of Hollywood fantasy land.
I'm sure every director in Hollywood knows MD and these things can't appear in a film without them being aware of it. Like the pram from Battleship Potempkin, you know?
