The website RetroCRUSH picked the Bum coming out behind the wall behind Winkie's as the scariest film scene ever.

Unexpected yes, scary okay ... but I'm surprised at that result.

I remember as a kid (maybe 13-14) watching Cronenberg's Scanners when I really shouldn't have been and being totally freaked out by the head popping scenes. There are couple of the lower key moments in the Exorcist I find absolutely terrifying for more psychological reasons, and in recent years I was genuinely frightened by The Descent - I think that's to do with the claustrophobic nature of it (despite not being a claustrophobe in general).

I love being frightened, but I love the more slow dread aspect of horror than a skeleton falling out of a closet (or similar). I think fear is pretty much the purest human emotion.

And as far as our friend Mr. Lynch is concerned. This is absolutely terrifying.

That's Bob from Twin Peaks. At some point in the first series, I think. That scene is really something. If you never saw it, I would recommend that you pick up the box sets and check it out.

That was some moment with Bob coming over the top of the couch back in the day. Seriously freaked my wife out like no other scene before or since.
