Hi, new here. I like Lynch in general but my main interest and favourite film is MD.

I saw the movie shortly after it came out and I've had a casual interest in all things MD ever since. For various reasons the movie has became more important to me recently and I started watching it repeatedly and reading about it too.

It's great that there is a web community of people who share this interest, so I'll try to post on here and contribute regularly.

Hi there! I'm an Aussie and a Lynch fan for many years.. I was a teenager for the original Twin peaks 'who killed Laura' craze, which was awesome suspense at the time. Mulholland Drive's probably my all time favourite Lynch film, as it's so open to interpretation and a bit of a mystery/puzzle I like to come back to from time to time. Anyhow, I've been reading here for so long I thought I'd better join. Awesome forum, great threads. Nice to be here. :)

Hi, my name is Bart. When I first saw MD I was simply fascinated, although I didn't understand much of it. Images and soundbites kept rolling in my head and I was in online discussions about the film for a month. I also visited this site and read Alan Shaw's analysis. I thought it was very insightful, but it kept leaving me with questions about the movie.

A couple of months ago I saw Lost Highway again. I was just annoyed with it the first time I saw it. Even the second and third time didn't do it for me. Until two months ago, when I saw it for the fourth time (in about 10 years). I thought I got a base where I could get my teeth in. So I checked online and engaged in discussions on the site Moviemeter (Dutch). Than I got some more very insightful clues and when I saw the movie again shortly thereafter it just hit me! Absolutely awesome!

That got me started thinking about MD again. So, I applied the same logic as I had done with LH and now I'm very happy to say, that I have a complete satisfactory explanation. The beauty of it, is that it has enriched the meaning of the movie for me. With this new approach I see many more subleties and layers of meaning. The thing is: I have never seen this explanation anywhere. This might incline that it is just stupid and makes no sense, but to me it is as plain as can be: I think there's actually only ONE approach that can explain everything (exept certain individual symbols). So I'm surprised I haven't seen it anywhere yet.

I've written my explanation on the site Moviemeter and I'm now in the process of making it into print. This will only be a somewhat moderated version of the discussion I had on Moviemeter. It is about 70 pages and in Dutch! Is there an easy way to translate it into English? When it's all finished maybe I can upload it as a Word-document?

I hope I didn't sound to cockey. I guess many people believe they're aproach or explanation to be right. Perhaps I'm just overly enthousiastic and unable to be objective about it. This movie has just moved me so much, that I eventualy had to write about it. To explain it to myself, but also to show my appreciation of it.

If anyone has any suggestions how to translate and to upload documents, I'll be obliged.

As for translation, on something that size I don't think there's a quick and easy method as far as I'm aware. Perhaps if you get it published and there's a demand, you might be able to get it done professionally. I hope you find a way, I'd be very interesting in reading it.
