I'm still trying to wrap my head around what you are seeing here, but I think I grasp part of it and I want to 'inject' something. :)

What if the dream (Rita) belongs to the 'blonde in bed' and is always 'carried on' by a blonde. But what we witness is the dream being passed to a non-blonde, by accident, and this causes the destruction of the cycle? Rita is not only non-blonde, but is the dream itself?
