Just Came to a Crazy Idea About Blonde Camilla

Postby kmkmiller » 04 Sep 2012

no need to ask leading questions or employ a socratic method, just come out and say it.

Blonde Camilla in the dinner party scene is Camilla's angel.

Three supporting clues:
1. wears a white dress.
2. wears white lipstick. Camilla's red lipstick is the equivalent of red curtains in the White/Black lodge and it covers her white lipstick.
3. has wings.
4. has pearls.

Did I mention it's crazy? Yeah, it's crazy.

Hey, maybe she's the Angel of Death... come to to give Camilla the Kiss of Death, because she's about to get rubbed out! ;-)

Yeah.. So what's up with that. I always made the connection to Silence of the Lambs. But that's a moth, I guess. So is that just chrysalis symbolism or what?

My dictionary reads:
dragonfly |ˈdragənˌflī|
noun ( pl. -flies)
a fast-flying long-bodied predatory insect with two pairs of large transparent wings that are spread out sideways at rest. The voracious aquatic larvae take up to five years to reach adulthood. Compare with damselfly . • Suborder Anisoptera, order Odonata: several families. Dragonflies include darners and skimmers.

damselfly |ˈdamzəlˌflī|
noun ( pl. -flies)
a slender insect related to the dragonflies, having weak flight and typically resting with the wings folded back along the body. • Suborder Zygoptera, order Odonata: several families.

darner |ˈdärnər|
noun
1 a darning needle.
2 a large slender-bodied dragonfly. Also called darning needle , devil's darning needle . [ORIGIN: said to be so named because of the popular belief that the dragonfly sews up the lips and eyelids of people sleeping.] • Family Aeshnidae: several genera.

Yes. It seems that Dragonflies are closely associated with the Devil. That the Devil is working through them.
Just forget you ever saw it. It's better that way.

Lynch seems to put these subtle symbols in. I remember in Lost Highway there is an image of a Swan on a bed head. I would assume that this can be taken as a wry reference to Swan's mating rituals in relation to Fred and Renee's problems.

no doubt. there is rarely a pixel in a Lynch movie that doesn't mean something.

the trick is knowing what the thing is and what it signifies, and just to say, I don't always know.
