And the guy on the other side looks like Christopher Walken :P The hair reminds me of Henry from Eraserhead. And it looks like there's a brown paper bag on his lap---which is something Henry carries around in EH. :P

If we were going to go further with this, the old man behind Laura and Ronnette reminds me of Richard Pryor whose last movie was LOST HIGHWAY before he sadly passed away.

It ain't a theory, it's an observation ;-) But thanks for the pic derekfnord :2up:

I'm not sure about Christopher Walken and Richard Pryor, but those two at the front certainly do look like Ronette and Laura.

Lynch probably didn't notice that though, right?

I'm sure it's Laura and Ronette and it's on purpose, the question is why did Lynch turn his "woman in trouble" who would see her angel and go to heaven.... into a killer.

Club Silencio, and our two leads, a blond and a brunette, are entering a space that has already been entered by Ronette and Laura.

What place did R & L go together? Not a very nice place, one filled with abuse and murder. Not the black lodge though - remember that R&L's shared journey only takes them as far as the railway carriage, after that their paths seperate.

Perhaps Club Silencio is another instance of this place?

If you mean the cabin, I can see the narrative parallel.

But my memory is not that great, and I don't have a digital copy of FWWM. Was Ronette in the train car?

Here's what think. Fred turned Lynch's mythical "woman in trouble" into a killer.

Up until that point, you had abused women, Laura, and Lula, who were not killers, after Fred in LOST HIGHWAY, the "woman in trouble" became a killer.

Yes they were in the cabin together and the train car too.

But I'm not sure about reading this as Diane = Laura (= Lula = Woman In Trouble, etc.)

I think the key thing to this "Laura and Ronette" gesture is that it takes place in Club Silencio and relates to whats going on at this moment specifically.

At that moment specifically, Betty and Rita are being told that they are in a dream, and it is all fake, a recording.
