Thank you Blu and Siku.
I don't think it will be published. The "essay" isn't formally written. As I said, it's an impression of my discussion at the site Moviemeter. All I have done is written about the structure of the plot and the meaning of the symbolism, as I see it. I haven't used any references, although I've been inspired by many writings I've read and discussions I've had. Maybe I could turn it into a professional essay someday, but that will take some work.
As for the translation. I think I could translate it myself, although I've used many native slurs and specific usage of language inherent to Dutch. What I specifically mean is, that the style of language I used is very difficult to translate into any language. Just like English has it's own vocabulary and distinct phrases, so has Dutch it's own fair share. Maybe I will translate it someday, but not in the near future (I have other things to do, you know). Maybe I can upload it in Dutch, so anyone who is capable of reading Dutch can look into it or perhaps even translate it?
Well, as I said, don't get your hopes up Blu and Siku. It is a summary of a discussion I've had and my opinions change throughout the essay. I'm very pleased with my insights into the film, but I don't know if it is an enjoyable read (I still haven't got any reactions to my "explanation" of the movie on Moviemeter, so maybe it isn't all that or it's just too freaking long).
Apart from translating or uploading in Dutch, I can always throw snippets of my approach to MD around on this forum, can I? I've written about the neighbour / the roommate of Diane on this forum in a thread called De Rosa is the only character Anyway, I'd like to talk about the movie and share my thoughts with others. This way I can learn more about the movie myself. Also I think it's nice to hear what others think about MD. I guess this is indeed the place to be.
I don't think uploading the esay in Dutch is very helpful, so I guess I will have to translate it someday.
