I've decided that Lynch will, indeed, cast his movies based on this kind of coincidence. At least with the smaller parts. I know it's a dubious idea, but you've got actor Vincent Castellanos in a movie with a character named Vincenzo Castigliane. It strains credibility that Lynch isn't aware of that and either through happy accident or by design wants it to be noticed. And I don't think he's f-ing with us either (i'll never say that about Lynch), there's some logic behind it.

I've been compiling a list of these weird coincidences.

Geno Silva last name the same as the guy who plays Killer BOB.

Wayne Grace (Bob Brooker), his last name the same as Grace Zabriskie's and last name of Nikki Grace.

Rita Taggart, first name the same as Rita.

Maya Bond (Aunt Ruth) : From the wiki on the sanskrit word "maya": Maya meant wisdom and extraordinary power in an earlier language, but later the word came to mean illusion, fraud, deception, witchcraft, sorcery and magic.[2]

And of course the big one everyone already knows about Lori Heuring and Laura Harring.

So would it really be that much of a stretch to say Lynch cast Woman in 12 based on a song Johanna wrote and performed in a comedy show a few years prior?? Hmmmmmmm...

Nice of Johanna to tweet you back on that. She's a really funny person. If you guys find the Porno Outtakes short film she made on her website, you'll see what I mean. And it's not like it sounds. It's probably even safe for work if you just keep the sound down.

Because MD is literally the only credit in IMDb for "Maya Bond," I suspect that the woman playing her isn't a professional actress, and just assumed that name (chosen by Lynch) for this one role. In fact, my personal hunch (though of course I have no evidence at all) is that her real name is Ruth, and she's the aunt of someone involved with the project in some way. That just seems like the sort of thing that David Lynch would love to do. Get a real "Aunt Ruth" to play a fake Aunt Ruth, and do it under a name that literally means "trapped by illusion"...
