Screening in Brighton UK - Friday 24th Feb

Postby Siku » 24 Jan 2012

http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/D ... 24_2_2012/

This is being screened at Brighton's beautiful Duke of York Cinema, one of the oldest in the country, as part of the Brighton Science Festival (!). It's the cinema where I first saw MD 11 years ago, and it'll be just my second viewing on the big screen - very exciting!

It might be nice to meet up before or go for a drink afterwards, although that will be late, screening starts at 11.15.

Anyone up for it?

I would love to, but I'm a distance away in Manchester and will also no doubt be nursing a killer hangover as the 23rd is my birthday.

;-)

Enjoy though.

I'm still waiting to see it on the big screen. Hopefully, some group will be doing it this fall in my neck of the woods.

Late report but anyway...

It wasn't a print! They were just playing the dvd up in the projection room I think and it kept jumping - cutting out the whole audition before stopping completely for 10 minutes. Just when we'd finally decided to give up and watch the rest at our place they got it going again. Still fun though - Lot's of (bemused?) laughter from the stalls at the end.

But if the screening was bad the party made up for it...

All the guests received a blue box...

...containing their ticket and, of course, a blue key:

And in addition, a random gift or two:

Pages of a faxed script (two of these - kitchen version and audition version)...

The pot of pink paint..

The pearl earring...

The blue van...

Tart cards for Rita...

- in red of course, and in pink...

...one for Diane...

mmm... blue key...

The blue keys weren't easy to find actually... can you believe no one sells these in the UK! In fact the whole merry lot was quite a bit of work to get together but we had fun. Had a few other bits and bobs including portrait of Beatrice but it didn't fit in the blue boxes. The glasses were for my costume BTW.

It was all lost on a most people, a few got it.

I found out later that when we got to the cinema Fiona bumped into our friend Frankie. Frankie's a BIG Lynch fan and ran the Lynch night down here. Apparently Fiona just pulled a blue box out of her hand bag saying 'this is for you', and wandered off. Frankie totally flipped.

That made it all worth while - all the effort - for just that one person to get that one moment.

Everyone be good for Bob while I'm gone, but I will try to poke my head in occasionally.
