How about this for the first homage to Mulholland
Dr. - the Coen bros' "Intolerable Cruelty" (2003):

After a production meeting a film producer returns to his plush LA home in his smart convertible,
But what's that in the driveway? The van owned by the local maintenance man and pool
guy.
He enters the house and heads for the bedroom,
only to find... a freshly vacated marital
bed. A comedic fight ensues as the lovers enter the scene.
After the fight is over and people dash away in their
cars, we get a glimpse at the Asian groundskeeper.
A car screeches along a hillside road in LA, viciously swerving across the road.
A woman hangs out of the car screaming and whooping. In my mind there is no doubt that this road is Mulholland Dr.

The light-colored sedan is being
followed by a black

The protagonist orders a hitman
called Wheezy Joe to kill the woman he is deeply in love with but who
also betrayed
him. Joe is handed a document to help
him identify the victim.
