An idea that may stimulate a little debate/discussion, and perhaps an opportunity for you to look more closely at an area of the film that you may not have looked at before ... something that I tried on RT many moons ago and produced a few interesting ideas and new things noted.
It's also a little homework for you.
Sometime in the next week, pick a scene in Mulholland Dr, and go away and watch that individual scene a number of times. Completely out of context of the rest of the film, on it's own. It can be any scene that you want - large or small.
I want you to bring the scene you chose to the forum in a new thread, and tell us something about that scene that you have picked up on that you never noticed before. A thought about a character, the dialogue, how it is delivered, a camera movement, a prop ... anything. Let's see if we can find something of significance. Think of it as an exercise in observation and objectivity, perhaps.
So watch a couple of minutes of film, 7 or 8 times (whatever) and spend 10 minutes making a thread about it. Like the Moby Dick in the convertible scene or the changing luggages from Aunt Ruth's bedroom, see if you can find something along those lines.
If anyone needs any help with a piece of the film chopping out and hosted online to embed, or a couple of screencaps to illustrate something that they've picked up, no doubt I and others will be available to help.
As an aid, the rough unofficial chapter stops up on the main site follow here and may give you an idea for something to go at (the timings maybe slightly off on NTSC vs PAL, but it may be helpful in picking something).
