I find it odd that the actress credited as Ruth Elms in MD (A) has MD as her only credit in iMDB, and (B) just happens to have a name ("Maya Bond") with such strong and obvious connotations of illusion, coercion, being tied to the world instead of moving on in the afterlife, and so on (themes with obvious potential relevance to Betty/Diane/MD/Club Silencio/sexual abuse/etc.).

So operating under the assumption that the name was probably assumed specifically for MD, I wondered whether the same actress might have appeared in other things under a different name. Obviously, that would be hard to tell, but just goofing around on iMDB, I noticed that -- even though MD is her only listed credit, and even though it has literally no other biographical data about her -- it does list her complete birth date (September 3, 1931).

With that detail, I wondered whether "Maya Bond" might just be a one-time screen name for a different actress born on September 3, 1931. So I looked into that. Turns out there is only one other actress in iMDB with that birth date: Laurinda Barrett. Now, I don't think this actress is the same person as "Maya Bond;" I haven't had luck finding a great picture that's definitely Laurinda Barrett, but the pics I have found that I think are Laurinda Barrett don't look much like "Maya Bond."

But the bizarrely interesting thing I did find was that Barrett is apparently best known for the soap opera All My Children. Her character's name? Bitsy -- the same name on the note Aunt Ruth leaves pinned to the robe in Havenhurst (albeit with a different spelling).

What does this signify? Nothing, I'm sure. Just thought it was an interesting coincidence...
