How many hotels have you been in where the door to the room opens outwards? I'd guess at none. And those rooms you can see behind our friend Cookie seem to be standard inwards opening judging from the frames.

:hmm:

Could be nothing, but the way the door is would make Cookie in the room and Adam in the corridor. Could just be a quirk of the location, but makes me think of the 119 on the firetruck.

Well we know the filming location is upstairs in club silencio not a real hotel. Also when Cookie closes the door the camera pans (dollys?) right to the interior of the hotel room, i.e. through the wall (and we see Adam call Cynthia). Maybe the location was chose just to enable this shot. Maybe?

It doesn't feel like a regular hotel does it?

What's the connection with the fire truck? 119? We know Lynch painted the '16' on the hotel door so clearly that's important.

1612 Havenhurst
16 Sierra Bonita (fleeting glance at least)
16 Park Hotel

Just had a though about Diane living and working as a call girl here (red lampshade location)

Adam calls Cynthia
Diane is called by a John
Adam is offered sex
Diane has to offer sex
Adam has a friend in cynthia
Diane hasn't a friend at all it seems

An instance of 'dream as idealised reality' - Adam, as an avatar of Diane, is empowered (makes the call) rather than disempowered (waits for the call), is offered intimacy rather than being obliged to give the illusion of intimacy.

'I sure wanna thank you for coming all the way up here from that nice hotel downtown'
'No problem, what's on your mind?'
'Well here's a man (Diane) who want's to get right down to it. Kinda anxious to get down to it are you?'

!! It's not a coincidence/convenience that the filming location for the hotel is upstairs at club silencio !!

Cookie is the frontman for both and they look kinda the same - beaten up red velvet feel.

There must be clues to the hotel, and to the red lampshade in the club silencio sequence! :hmm:

(You've all known this since 2001 right?)
