I'm currently doing my thesis on the significance of objects in Lynch's films and my first chapter is on MD. I found a very interesting quote in the "Blue Box" section of the site which is apparently from Jacques Lacan, but after some serious Googling I have yet to find any connection between him and this quote.

I'd really appreciate if anyone could help me out as its really applicable to the direction I'm leaning toward regarding my thesis as well as the Blue Box.

Good question. I tried to see if I could find the user that the post is credited to ("shonagon53") on Rotten Tomatoes to see if there was anymore information in the original post, but they didn't show up. I found them on IMDb, but the problem is that IMDb's board software prunes threads after a certain length of inactivity. Likelihood is that the post was made on IMDb and replicated on the site by Bob, but it's now lost.

Googling the quote doesn't show up anything as you say, so I wonder if this is not a famous quote really but something from one of his books ... ?

I looked in all the places I thought I remembered seeing it...to no avail. :( And Google...nothing. Sorry I couldn't help.
