Lamp in Blue Velvet

Postby Erskine » 03 Mar 2012

I was watching Blue Velvet last night and there is a scene I believe where Jeffrey is at work and at the edge of the shot is a lamp with a gnarled tree like base and red shade. Unable to check this at the moment and wanted to post this before I forgot. Has this been observed or discussed? Dorothy Vallens is also billed at the Slow Club as The Blue Lady. The Slow Club also seems to share the same vibe as Club Silencio.

The cars parked outside, drawn once again to the red car that was racing alongside the white car.

(update)
The lamp is at 53:43 on the dvd. It is in Jeffreys home. Gnarled tree base and red lamp shade.

You are obvioulsy onto something.

There's plenty of interconnections within Lynch's work. For another:

Great! Also noticed Lincoln Street in Blue Velvet. One can be of the mind that Lynch recycles these elements for psychological gravitas, or they are hints screaming at us that ALL of Mulholland Dr. is "fake", and are the dreams and nightmares influenced by his films on a single protagonist amalgamated into what we, the audience see, the film proper, Mulholland Dr. No hay banda.
